2018 Wabi Thunder X

Their website shows a new bike coming out soon, but no real details:

"The upcoming Wabi Thunder X will be a bike for cyclocross or adventure touring. Featuring cantilever brakes and space for wide tires, the Thunder X is built from an entirely new Reynolds 725 frame design.

Look for more information and the ability to be the first to own this exciting new Wabi product very soon!"

Wabi was a great company under the previous owner. The Lightning singlespeed bikes are a great value and lots of guys in the SSFG forum own them.

I own a pair of their ultralight wheels and toyed with the idea of buying the 17.5 Lb Lightning SE before the price went up.

I don't know about the new owners and the road bike seems somewhat overpriced but the gear and the company has been generally well respected in the single speed world.

I am interested in this frame. Has any other info been released? I currently own a Wabi classic and very happy with it.

Was sure it was going to be a SS CX bike, not geared. Now I don't feel bad for not waiting for it.

I was under the impression it would be single speed. Looks like it will definitely be a geared bike.

There will be two new bikes at some point. The Thunder will be a SSCX bike, similar to the photo posted above. The Thunder X will be a geared version of that bike. Both are based on a new Reynolds 725 frame designed by Wabi's founder, Richard Snook. Components and price yet to be determined, but we're confident that the single speed version will be available by Spring 2018. I know we've been talking about this for awhile now, but we ran into some difficulties with the first set of prototypes. The new ones are great, and I see no problem in getting the single speed bike out in the next six months.

The SS version looks pretty cool. Very similar to the Nature Boy. Wabi makes and sells great stuff, I'm sure they got this right.
