2018 Salsa Warbirds are listed on Salsa site

I've been waiting for the 2018 release....not sure at first glance if I'm very excited. Curious to hear what others think of the changes they have made. With the 10% price increases on the Warbirds, I could do a TI Linskey GR250 with Ultegra for less then a Warbird Carbon Ultegra. The Diverge Comp w/105 at over $1k less than either of these bikes (Warbird and GR250) looks like a bargin!

The Jamis Renegade Expert with 105 looks like an even better bargain. I just picked-up a leftover 2016 for a stupid cheap price, and it's an amazing bike - simultaneously super planted and nimble somehow and zippy fun, too.

I looked up a local Jamis dealer who has a 2016 Renegade Elite with Ultegra in a 54cm with American Classic Argent Tubless Center Lock wheelset (claimed weight of 1400g) for $3500.....I am going to test ride it next week.

Nice. That's the exact bike that turned me and a group of friends onto gravel grinders. An old mtbing buddy bought one as an upgrade to his road bike. Before I knew it, two other friends picked-up various Renegades and one other a different gravel bike. I test rode several bikes and did more research than is healthy, but came back to the Renegade for it's geometry, balance, and overall value. The big discount was just the bonus that kept me from walking out of the shop emptyhanded Friday. That's a sweet wheelset on the Elite, almost worth the price difference (from what you were quoted) to the Expert (at retail) by itself. Add the Ultegra kit, and you've got a good deal there.

I got a sweet deal on a 2016 Warbird 105 in a local shop a couple of months ago, and was waiting for the 2018 model to see what they did for colors this year. Sad to see there is NO Warbird 105 this year. NOT happy........ :(

Just got the steel Exploit. Amazing bike. The nailed it.

Hard to get a deal on those. They don't make enough to keep up with demand. You should be a happy customer.

That's what I walked into the shop looking for. I was offered the Expert for $100 less than the Exploit and couldn't say "no." They are the steel and carbon version of the same bike. There's a part of me that would have preferred the steel bike, but I'm not complaining.

Warbird with 105 would have been nice to see...

I have compared the 55cm Carbon Warbird and the 54cm Jamis Renegade Elite (2016), these 2 bikes have a stack of 567.3/565, a reach of 376.6/378, a BB Drop of 70/72, a wheelbase of 1024.7/1023, stand over height of 771.6/785, and seat tube angle of 73/73. They seem almost identical on paper expect for stand over height, which would not be an issue as my current Giant TCX is 800.1.

Now just to find a chance to test ride them.

Carbon Rival looks like the best pick among them, but I think I'd be looking elsewhere.
