Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I did 32 miles Saturday (hey, it's short because I drove hours to get to clean air) with 1.1 of them on gravel. Maybe we both did a "mixed surface" ride.

I suppose that was a gravel ride. Where was this?

I was just in Chicago this weekend and rode the Waterfall Glen area with the wife. I remember back when I lived up there that had a bunch of single track but now it is one wide gravelly path. Pretty cool still and it was fun on the cyclocross bike. The wife loved it.

I don't know.

That bike looks awfully clean to have been on a gravel ride.

Looks like gravel.

You should send it to the lab to be sure.

That was the des plaines river trail. Rode to my dads place in des plaines, then up the trail from central ave up into lake county and back.

Waterfall glenn is nice. I've never ridden through there, but we took our 3yr old by earlier in the summer just to splash around.

Did you enjoy that sandy section where they burned down the trees? I hate going through that.

Oh that's what that was haha. I thought it was just super dry, dusty dirt.
