Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

i would agree. Everyone is buying into the marketing hype. They believe they need a different bike for every different condition they encounter. If that’s what keeps them happy then go for it. Personally you can have fun on any kind of bike you ride.

I built a gravel bike because it's versatile. I use it on paved roads, dirt roads, gravel, singletrack. I ride it all year around with fenders in the winter.

I'm a 100% certain I wouldn't have as much fun on a bike from 1970 with friction gearing and terrible brakes. I'm also certain I wouldn't have as much fun bouncing around for hours on skinny tyres.

And I'm not against this newly created class of bike at all. In fact, if I had to own only one bike, it would be this class. But I have lots of bikes, and I'm pretty happy with what I have.
