i would agree. Everyone is buying into the marketing hype. They believe they need a different bike for every different condition they encounter. If that’s what keeps them happy then go for it. Personally you can have fun on any kind of bike you ride.

I'm a 100% certain I wouldn't have as much fun on a bike from 1970 with friction gearing and terrible brakes. I'm also certain I wouldn't have as much fun bouncing around for hours on skinny tyres.

And I'm not against this newly created class of bike at all. In fact, if I had to own only one bike, it would be this class. But I have lots of bikes, and I'm pretty happy with what I have.
