Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. At $3200 though it's still kinda overpriced. Not sure I would say the Niner frame is better than the Santa Cruz especially with the legendary SC warranty everyone raves about.

The Santa Cruz Stigmata has to be compared to the Niner BSB RDO. Both are bonafide cross bikes with very similar geometries.

The Niner RLT 9 RDO is a somewhat different bike with much longer wheelbase and more BB drop. It is designed for long course gravel events such as Dirty Kanza. Santa Cruz doesn't really have an offering in this space.

My Stigmata would say otherwise. For one it comes with 40mm tires stock and pretty comfy. It's more in the middle between a cross and gravel bike. Granted it's not a normal Stig by any means but I wouldn't say it's a full on cross bike either in stock form.

Regardless, the Stigmata and BSB RDO are directly comparable.

Warranty aside, the RLT 9 RDO is a different enough from both that it really isn't a fair comparison.

I have heard good things about Santa Cruz's warranty though. Niner is 5 years.

I'm actually toying with the idea of getting a 23 lb Blur.

Stack reach ratios

BSB 1.50
RLT 1.54
Stig 1.52

So no the Stig is not exactly like the BSB which is a more aggressive ride meant for CX racing mostly. Like I said the Stig compares with either depending on setup since the ratio is right in the middle of both. Even Santa Cruz calls it their whatever bike.

If I'm looking at Santa Cruz's site correctly the Stigmata with Ultegra is ~$4600.00 so I guess the question is the Stigmata rig $1400 better than the Niner? If so, why? Does the "legendary SC warranty" add that much value to the bike or does it perform that much better than the Niner?

edit: As an aside, the bike pictured on Excel sports might be a little misleading, if you scroll through the pictures you'll see some are from the 2018 model and some are from the 2019. Most notable is the rear derailleur some pictures show the RX RD with the clutch and others show the standard derailleur. If I were to purchase this I'd sure question the specs prior to pulling the trigger.

Well Niner doesn't make a version with Rival 22 which is close to Ultegra but it does make a 105 version which is more expensive than the Rival 22 Stig. Also warranty might not matter to some but it does to others especially on something that's going to see some off-road. Niner has been on the brink of bankruptcy for a couple years now so it would matter to me.

But... SC does sell an Ultegra model and it's $4600. So if you're comparing models wouldn't it be fair to compare equivalent groupsets? Santa Cruze Stigmata Ultegra: Price$4599 USD (MSRP). Yes I have an Ultegra RDO but that's beside the point as I'm not emotionally invested in it enough to defend it unconditionally. If I were in need of a new bike today I'd be looking hard at the Giant Revolt Advanced 0 as it's looks like the one to beat for the price. As far as Niner going out of business, at this point I'm not too sure it's an issue as they were purchased by UWHK Ltd.

It is fine to compare Niner and Santa Cruz and I have no desire to do so beyond what was already done but "on the brink of bankruptcy for a couple years" isn't correct.

Niner filed bankruptcy to facilitate rapid transfer of asset to the new owners. It is a financial tactic often employed when rapid transfer of assets is desired. The whole thing lasted four months.

Not quite on topic but interesting non the less. In looking at UWHK Ltd. I see they are working on an Allite Super Magnesium bike frame...

Niner's new parent company apparently has deepish pockets.
