Best management of hear?

Hello,

I have a focus Mares ax that I typically use for cyclocross and gravel racing. I won the state championship on it for CX but find it to be less ideal on gravel.. doesn't feel planted enough. Are there any ALU gravel bikes you would recommend? My plan is to make the focus a 1x lightweight monster for cx and fill the gap for a dedicated gravel bike/bad weather with another bike.

Ummmmm- you've won a CX "state championship" and you're asking this group what to buy?

Cannondale Topstone comes to mind. You should give us a budget to work with though.

Why not? I'm not too versed in what is currently available on market due to having the need of a new bike for quite sometime. Also, not versed in what is a "gravel bike" due to the constant changing nature of the market and demand.

I have looked at it. I'm more drawn to the CAADX but that may be my CX bias creeping in. I am looking to spend no more than 2.5k.

Yep, the CAADX is more CX orientated, and you asked about a gravel bike so...

Also, I can't for the life of me figure out what "Best management of hear?" means???

Not sure that makes any more sense. Nevertheless, another vote for the Topstone.

I'm biased since I just bought one, but the Giant Revolt Advanced 2 is within your budget and a great bike. Carbon, 105 hyd, room for 45mm (or 650b 2"), very comfortable on gravel (d-fuse seatpost and bars), and can easily pull road duty with a second wheelset.

If that were the smart way to decide, then I wouldnt own any of my current bikes. Literally not a one was bought from them, nor do they even carry the brands.

The category is- Dumb decisions for $400
Alex Trebek- "A quick way to arbitrarily limit your options when looking to buy a bike"
fietsbob- "What is, shop only at your favorite bike shop"

I imagine the logic is "try some available gravelbikes and see what feels good to you"?

It actually makes a lot of sense for most people (rather than buying some bike, sight unseen, because someone else likes it).

of course it makes sense to try some bikes out.
Try them at your favorite shop AND other shops in your area. Why limit yourself to the 1-2 brands at your favorite shop?
That's my point with regards to Bob's suggestion.

Look for something with more relaxed geo than your cx as well as room for larger tires. Think at least up to 700x45.

Your cx is a very capable gravel bike, but if you want something that's not your cx, get something different!

A CAADX wouldn't make sense since you already have your Focus. It is a beautiful bike though.
