Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Need an inexpensive/good value frame

Need an inexpensive/good value frame

Hey all,

This is my first post, happy to be a part of the community! I recently had my bike wrecked. Someone tried to steal it and was unsuccessful, and in doing so damaged the frame beyond repair. Wheels, tires, groupset are all salvageable.

But i need a frame!... looking for a good aluminum gravel frame to purchase. I found a company named RIDEWILL on ebay that seems to have a great selection (and the price is pretty attractive too). However they tell me they are out of stock until October.

Can any of you direct my attention to a good aluminum/steel frame manufacturer? i don't give a **** about looks, this frame is just something to bang around in. Trying to keep it under $600 US.

Thanks!

Derek

Where are you located? This may help determine option that are available close to you. Are you willing to go used?

If steel is okay, check out Konaís Rove or Sutra framesets. Kona just put the new models up on their website in the past few days, so Iím guessing they are/will be soon available.

What type of brake mounts, headset diameter, axle ends and bottom bracket do you need to match? And what size frame are you looking for?

Take into account the parts you have. Worst case is bottom bracket (maybe cranks) wheels (Axles width &type) brakes (rim or disc caliper mount type), seat post and front derailleur hanger wonít fit. It can add up.

On the other hand itís and opportunity to upgrade.

- Fork 1Ĺ'' tapered aluminum steerer

Not sure if you can get Jamis in Canada but they have a great steel Renegade frame. I do not think theh have it listed for sale but dealers can sometimes order as a spare part....Similar to Kona Rove, but will have straight steerer I think.

I'm really happy with my Jamis Renegade Escapade frameset. A bit over your budget though at $850.

Check with Norco, they are a Canadian company and make great bikes. $600 US is going to be tough, the Norco Search frame is $1100, but worth it. I personally would just get a Chinese carbon frame, $350 - $450 or so.

Kona Rove ST is the obvious choice at $550 for the frameset.

Also note that the 2021 Rove ST headset is now tapered vs straight so you can now use whatever fork you want that's out there if you choose to down the line.

Also note that the Reynolds 853 LTD is no more. So now you have 2 options when it comes to buying the frame:

Rove ST - with steel fork
Rove LTD - with carbon fork

The price of the LTD frame is $750 which is actually not bad at all plus the color is dope.

Slick website marketing, the brand just never caught on i guess?

I saw the site earlier in the year or so- it was amix of bikes that are grown up bmx, city cruisers, etc.

Saw that they had a 52cm chocolate Rockitship in stock - purchased it a few weeks back. Looking to build this up as a heavier duty disc brake gravel bike.

Also own a 54cm BMC Road frame (rim brake) - but those rim brake models are probably gone for good.

When I found out about the company they had a great sale price on blue or orange chromoly road bikes, but they were out of my size. Never have seen that good of a price anywhere. I'm still tempted by their titanium frame. Wish they still made the higher end stuff.
