Oof hit the dirt, rocks in my shifter...

Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Lucky for me I've fallen so many times I bounce back up. Do feel lucky though any time I can get back on and ride with only minor scrapes. Ended up jamming these rocks in-between the right brake lever and housing so that's a new one! Also put the handlebar end into my ab so it's tender to the touch.

Spring is swiftly advancing and that means large Ag implements are back on the gravel roads, so I try and pull off onto a field access when they go by. Not every tractor or semi, but some implements are YUGE and take up damn near the full road, plus I don't want them to travel too close to the side incase the shoulder is soft.

So yeah, doing maybe 12mph my Varia beeped and I saw a tractor coming up. Bunny hopped into the field access, looked behind then forward to see myself into the dirt. The farmer stopped to see if I was ok, of course I was on my feet quick and laughing, then just gave a sheepish shoulder shrug and he continued on.

I shoulda dropped my pressures down, the whole ride I was a bit squirrely with the dry conditions and all the maintainers out regrading. Plus a good crosswind shoving me sideways. Been awhile since I've laid it down - and I have yet to crash on the open gravel. Hmm. Stay safe and happy riding!
