Crankset Compatibility Question
Greetings, all. I've decided to do an N-1. I know, horrors. Anyway, I'm selling my vgc Trek 720 Touring bike and a 1988 Miyata Twelve Hundred road bike I built up with Campagnolo because over the weekend I bought a 2018 Rove NRB. The Rove presently has a 650b weelset with 47mm Surly ETs. Over the winter I'll be building up a 700c wheelset for 32-40mm. So, the only mod the previous owner made was to go from 2x to 1x. The crankset which accomplished that switch is a Sram Rival 1 GXP. Right now there is a bit of grinding in the higher (smaller) five or so cogs. I'm chocking it up to a rusty chain that he tried to bring back to life and probably a worn cassette (I have a near new 10 speed chain on hand and I've ordered an 11-40 cassette with a Wolftooth roadlink to replace the existing cassette and give me more climbing range), but I want to make sure that the crankset is compatible. I see two different statements online. One is this--45.5mm chainline is compatible with130 or 135mm spaced rear dropouts, and the other is this--Chainline/Hub Compatibility, 135/142 Road Disc Hubs < 415 mm Chainstay. I'm assuming the first of those two is for QR hubs (and rim brakes), as the second appears to be for disc with thru axle? The Chainstay length on the 54cm Rove is 435mm, so a bit long, but I'm guessing not hugely problematic. So, what feedback do you have? Is this crankset compatible? And if it's not, any recommendations? Pic is of the model, but not my bike. It's just for attention.
