Schwinn Frontier budget gravel build.

Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Schwinn Frontier budget gravel build.

I put this together for my 11 year old son.

1995 Schwinn Frontier frame and fork. I don’t know if these came in different sizes. Seems like this would be around a 17” frame.

Pretty much everything is upgraded. Some new, some just parts bin stuff I had laying around. The only original component is the Sugino crankset. It works fine and had minimal wear, so I just cleaned and repacked it. Derailleurs are Deore. I had to spread the rear triangle a bit to go from 6 speed freewheel to 8 speed cassette. Had to modify things a bit to switch from the cheap cantis to V-brakes too. Tires are 26” x 47mm Conti Tour Rides.

It fits him pretty good and he is loving it. He was on a 20” BMX before this. Of course he could drop me even on his BMX, and he had no problems out to 20 miles or so. He’s going to be a strong rider!
