Mavic Kysriums for $230
My LBS has 'em, for that amount of money, and I'm both interested and curious. I know these are the hot wheels for the road set, but I bash the crap outta my Cannondale CX, which is currently weighed down with stock Gippiemme T3 wheelset (2335grams). I read some reviews, and found them mixed, with the cons scarrier than the pros were reassuring. Anybody else have this particular wheelset? Do you think it's worth it, and do you think they could withstand banging around on the hard, rocky, rooted trails of Washington DC? The guy at the LBS, who happens to be a CX racer and very knowledgable, reccomends these wheels.

there are different models of Kysriums. EQUIPE, ELITE, SL. usually run about $350, $575, and $850 respectively.

Your LBS is undoubtedly selling the Ksyerium Equipes. These are normal spoke count round spoke wheels with the good hubs and the good rims. They are excellent wheels and I'm using them on my CX bikes.
I recommend the Ksyriums without reserve.

The cheapest I was able to find a set of Mavic Kysrium Equipes has been about $350. Any suggestions on where to buy a set via a national mail order outfit?
