in line brake levers with diacompe 287 v's
i'm running v-brake specific brake levers on my cross bike, and am wondering if i could use in line brake levers with this set up - or whether anyone makes in-lines that would work.

They all work. The question is more why than how. A pro racer may feel the need to be able to grab the brake from any hand position but the fact is that anyone below that level ends up riding with their hands on the tops which isn't a good idea on a cross bike.

i'm riding in bc, and as i get more comfortable on my cross bike the trails get steeper, and steeper. . . anything that lets you get further back on the north shore of bc is a good thing.

Sounds like you've made up your mind, I have inlne levers and catch myself spending way too much time on the top of the bars (really annoyed me on the evening's ride thanks). Tom's advice is valid, but I don't know how I'd decend without them.
