Why dissmount on left side??

It seems that everybody dissmounts on the left side of the bike but then has to switch brake cables so they can still work the rear brake while dissmounting. Why not just dissmount on the right??? Just cause most people are right handed or is there an actual reason for this??

When you have to shoulder the bike, you don't want the drivetrain to dig into your back.

Really good cross racers (not me) can dismount from both sides.

yup chainrings. My girl friend dismounts on the right because she feels really awkward getting on and off from the left so she just does'nt shoulder the bike.
