My new cross build, 07 Fuji Cross Comp
 

Finally got my 07 Cross Comp today. First order of business was to strip it down from the Shimano stuff to be replaced with Campy. My New parts should be here Monday. I am a little biased towards Fuji, but I must say this is a very good looking bike in person.

The build will be: 07 Cross Comp, Centaur Aluminum shift levers, Centaur rear derailleur, Veloce front derailleur, FSA Gossamer cranks with 38/48 rings, 32 hole gray Velocity Deep V tubulars and Selle Italia Flite saddle. Brakes, bars, post will all be stock for right now.
I normally race road and crit season, taking off the last part of the year for a rest period. I think I'm going to start doing crit season and cross this year and take my break in the spring so I can enjoy it, instead of stuck inside on the trainer doing base miles. This will be my first cross season, so I'm sure other upgrades will come once I figure out the cool stuff to have. :D Better pics will be posted once it's actually built.

I'll try to use this thread for a review since we seem to have a few inquiries about the Fuji lineup and never get too many in-depth answers with a search.

I've got the '06 and have close to 900 miles on it so far, no problems yet really other than that the "dust cap" kept coming off on the left side of the front wheel. Unfortunately, I bought mine at the local Performance store and they wanted to take the wheel for two to three weeks while they sent it back to Fuji. Didn't even offer me a replacement or loaner wheel. And this was the day after I bought the thing. So.... I have a little bit of electrical tape holding the thing on. I ride it every day to work, home for lunch, back to work, and then home. I don't race it but I'd like to one of these days.

bump for an update

Nothing much. Got it cabled and waiting on my tires to arrive so I can mount them. Should have everything done this weekend, so I can swap parts to get a good fit.

which tires are you replacing the stocks with?

I found some Vittoria Cross EVO's to try out.

Finally rideable. I still need to adjust the brakes and clip some cables, but I have been tooling around the hood on it. So far I really like it. I'm a crit racer looking to race 5-10 cross races this year, so it fits the bill.

I just need to learn how to mount it on the run though. :(

Practice with a cheapo saddle, because you will bend the rails.

I have to say, that silver bar tape is just a massive amount of bikesexappeal. Great looking ride.

Thanks. It's Fizik MicroTex. Little to no padding, so some don't like it, but I wear gloves. It's also very easy to clean. One of my other bikes has it in white and I can go a whole season and it still looks good.

I'm a little late to the party but here goes: your bike looks great. I'm a big Campy fan and yours is the first I've seen with Campy for off road use. The bike looks great.

In the OP the seat tube is outrageously high. In the following posts the stem is higher and seatpost lower. Which way do you ride it? Personally, I like the bars level with the seat or only slightly lower.

If you want the all Campy look, genuine Campy cantis pop up on ebay from time to time. They usually are in the $85 and up range. There's a German seller that is selling Veloce mini V-brakes. They use standard brake levers. You should be able to bolt them up to your Centaur levers. Just a thought.

The last pic is how I ride it. The first pic was right out of the box and I always put the seatpost in to the minimum insert line so I don't scratch it up before I build it. My road bikes all have a good 4" drop from saddle to bars, but I kept this one a little more level as that's how I've heard is the best setup for cross.

Hmmmm........Campy brakes. Are they any good?

The Veloce mini-v gets good reviews in Europe. They use the same brake levers as side pull and cantilever. So, they can go on your Ergo lever equipped bike and work without those awful looking Travel Agents. As for performance, I can't believe that Campy would make anything that didn't work well. Those are some hot wheels. Can you take a closer picture?

Just basic Velocity Deep V tubulars in gray. I wanted something bombproof, so i picked these up. Heavy, but will do the job for now.
