Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

05 Syrrus

I have an 05 Syrrus (aluminum) "City" bike. I bought it new and never ride it because i have a nice roadbike, single speed, and a cool folder. So there is always a better bike waiting to be enjoyed. I was wondering: would it be worth it to turn it into a cyclocross/beater bike or am I better off selling it and later buying a cross bike? Anyone has any experience putting the Specialized through some serious rideing? Thank you so much.

I have over 2000 miles on mine and am currently converting it to a drop bar road bike....just put 105 crankset on and will be adding ten speed cassette, drop bars, brifters, and derailleurs over the next few weeks. It can be expensive, but I like the bike and want to keep it for my commuter/beater

Thanks so much. It is a very comfortable bike. I was just concerned with the integrity of the frame. I guess I will do the same--keep it and slowly upgrade it.
