Where can I find a 2007 Jamis Nova?
Hi everyone -- first post, longtime lurker. I'm really set on getting a 2007 Jamis Nova, but it seem like I'm about 3 months too late. None of my local dealers have one in stock or are able to order one for me. I've emailed Jamis directly but haven't heard anything from them. Does anyone know where I can get a 51cm frameset or bike?
Thanks.
P.S. If there are any other steel frame, carbon fork, rack and fender braze-ons cyclocross bikes, I'd be interested in those also.
Thanks.

Take a look a the Aurora Elite ... notice anything familiar? Compare the specs/geometry against last year's Nova.

Very interesting shapelike. Although the 2007 Nova fork does look cooler, and that's very important as everyone knows. Wish the Aurora Elite was offered as a frameset.

Have your dealer look into the 2006 Jamis Nova Reynolds 853 frames. You'll have to find a fork (and build) for it, but they're a great deal right now. Available in 51cm.

I am in the same boat. I have scoured the country, emailed or called every dealer I could find. Jamis has not responded to my email, and dealers tell me all Jamis has left are 53cm. I did find one in my size, but dealers have to sign an agreement with Jamis stating they will not sell out of state. ARRRGH! Good luck......

if you can't find a jamis, a soma double cross also fits your steel frame with rack and fender braze-on requirements. i built one up for my wife last year, but ended up selling it as it was too small. the frame was decently light though. it's tange presitige tubing. soma's site lists the 54cm frame at 4.2 pounds, which is about half a pound lighter than the surly crosscheck of the same size.
i bought it from here. it was the best price i found on this here interwebz contraption. looks like they're carrying the new special edition one as well, which the only difference is the "midnight silver" color.

rotomas--I think nashbar has the exact same fork, just unpainted.
Don't knock the aurora elite fork, though. It looks very good in person, is probably a bit beefier than the nova fork and definitely makes the bike more versatile/functional.
[edit]: and you wouldn't know it to look at it, but it's also a carbon fork.
If you want to race, the triple set-up drivetrain is maybe a bit of overkill, but it does lend itself very well to commuting, touring, and all-around applications.
Interesting, though, that Jamis hasn't touched the chainstay length, which many were saying was what kept them from using the Nova as a dedicated tour machine.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Well, my LBS did find a 2006 51cm frameset for $400, so I'm pretty excited. Now I get to build it up...should be fun.

The 07 Nova is a hot bike, be sure to post pics once you build it up. Does it have a flattened top tube? After doing a couple races with the weight of a heavy steel bike being borne onto my shoulder via a narrow top-tube, I was pretty glad to move onto an aluminum bike with a nice, wide, flat shouldering section. It may just be the fact that I'm really bony though...

Have you considered a Voodoo Wazoo?
I know they used to be highly regarded, now they're made in a different place than before (I guess china as opposed to taiwan maybe?) but they still seem pretty cool. Some people claim it used to be made of 853, now they're a proprietary steel "Voodoo Black Magic double butted CrMo", whatever that is.
