135g selle italia bad for cross
A suggestion: If you're looking for a light saddle for your cross bike and you weigh over 160, you may want to pass on the Selle Italia 135g SLR saddle. Sure the thing is light and it looks pretty darn neat on your bike but the thing is not meant for cross. I got about half way through the first race of the season and after a set of barricades I hopped back on my bike and heard a dis-hearting "crack". At first I thought it was my carbon seatpost but it turned out to be the saddle. The thing did not totally fail right then and I was able to finish the race because the leather skin kept the it together. After the race I took a closer look at it and saw that the saddle had cracked across the carbon base right over where your seatspost sits. I tip the scales at 165 and stand at just under 6' so it is not like I am some big 'ol fat body exeeding the weight limits. If you weigh less than me you may have no problem with the saddle but if you hear what I heard you'll know what I'm talking about.

I had the chance to replace my aluminum posts with our sponsor's carbon jobbies, but the idea of leaping on and off carbon just feels BAD to me (and I weigh 152 right now). For cross, I like a nice beefy post and a Flite or Max Flite saddle.
