Cannondale XR7
 

Everyone was really helpful in giving advice when I was deciding on whether to go with the Trek or C'dale cyclocross bikes, and I appreciate it. Both are great bikes, but I am glad now I chose the C'dale.

It suits me and the style of riding that I do, since I don't race, and wanted a tougher style road bike.The only trouble I am having is the rear D'railluer shifts by itself when I have it in the small gears , very worrisome, with the small chainring and bigger rear cog its fine....of course I am taking it back to the shop to have it adjusted....any suggestions on what would cause it?

Anyways..some pictures...I know ...get rid of the reflectors and spoke protector...but not right now.

I love riding this bike, and it fits me like a glove, the shop I purchased it was very professional about fitting me to this bike. I am glad I went with this model. I have probably ridden it 100 miles since I picked it up last Thursday.

I don't understand this comment.

The surprise shifting is probably caused by the derailleur ending up between gears. When the shop set up the bike, it was perfect, but after some shifting, the shifter cable stretched a bit. You could probably fix the shifting by turning the barrel adjuster on the rear der by a couple of notches, counterclockwise.

And put on a second bottle cage, saddle bag with roadside repair kit, and rear blinker for those times you get caught out after sundown.

By that I meant a psuedo road bike I can ride on trails also, I just didnt want a full fledged road bike.
The Cylocross is much faster on the road than a mountain bike, and can be used on off road rides to a certain degree.

My description wasnt good, and kinda confusing...(tougher style road bike)

OK now I get it.

A big part of the fun of having this kind of bike is trying different tires. You get so much variation in your ride. All the way from 23C road tires up to however big will fit.

I saw this very same model at my LBS, it's a beautiful bike. Pictures don't do it justice.

I bought it sight unseen, just going by the pictures, the bike shop ordered it. I agree , its a great looking bike, I like its uncluttered look. I swapped the original saddle for a WTB Rocket V, and don't have any regrets about purchasing this model vs the Trek XO1, or the C'dale XR6.

I have probably ridden 100 miles on it since I purchased it last Thursday.

Hey, nice bike!

I like my XR7 a lot and am glad I upgraded from my old touring bike. I've been thinking like flargle about different tires, possibly something slicker and faster, but I'll have to wait until the Chief Accountant won't notice to set up wheels so I can just swap them out. =:-)

Disc Brake Wheelsets

Only drawback to disc brake wheelsets in 700c, is they are rare and relatively more expensive that rim brake wheelsets, in regard to purchasing a second set to mount road tires. I did purchase a set of Bontrager road tires when I bought my bike, but right now just dont feel like I need to swap tires.

However, I am planning on a second wheelset in the future.

You are right about the wheels being expensive. Since I don't know any better at the moment, I'm going to keep riding these and may not bother with anything else.

One thing I missed about the old cantilever brakes is how the brake pads squealed and made folks on the MUP jump. :-) More effective than my little bell.

With the recent trend toward 29ers, there are lots of 700c, 135mm spaced wheelsets available. Most of them will take tires down to 28. 130mm spaced become a bit more challenging.

Nice bike.... had a CAAD8 Cross a few years ago.... very nice ride....
