Michelin Mud 2

I'm running these on my bike right now, and I really like 'em--great traction, handling, etc.

My question is

Don't know what happened there, here's my question:

It says on the sidewalls that the recommended pressure is 35PSI. I've been running them a little higher to avoid pinch flats (which happened to me yesterday). How high can I run them? I'm guessing Michelin has some reason for their recommended pressure, just curious.

35psi seems low for a 700x30c tire. Is there a range listed like 35-65psi? If the tire is truly for muddy conditions only, then 35psi makes sense, but if you ride harder stuff, I'd give it more pressure (especially if you weigh a lot).

There's no range posted, which I found a little puzzling.

The conditions I'm riding have some mud combined with drier stuff, and yes, I'm on the heavier side! I'll try more air and see how it goes.

Maybe they've recommended that psi for maximum mud performance, rather than if you pump them up higher they'll explode...

Thanks!

I noticed you're in Tiburon, did you do any of the Bay Area cross races?

No, I haven't done any local races.

I'm interested, but racing is something I'll have to work towards--I'm pretty out of shape right now!
