Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

9 or 10 speed

Im debating between 9 or 10 speed. Does it even matter? That one extra gear in the rear?

My initial instinct with cx is to just HTFU and go 9 Speed. It is the cheapest...(which watching all of the road guys dump their 9 speed gear for 10 speed..seems 9 speed stuff is a good way to go...)

or am I wrong?

I would go 9-speed, but not for the reason you're talking about.

9-speed offers a HUGE variety and range of cassettes and rear derailleurs. 10-speed, not so much.
