Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Basic Noob question. Is a 29er a good CX racing bike for a Noob that justs wants to finish and doesn't care about winning?

Especially if it is rigid but either way if you just want to get out there then yes.

Man, riding a pugsley for cyclocross. Wow! How did that work out?

I use my 29er for cyclocross right now, it works out pretty well. If I put lighter parts on it, the bike would be veeeeeery similar to a cross bike.

Here's a photo me on my setup.

That front triangle looks like it might make for a tough shoulder.

You use a briefcase on your carries? That is real popular these days. Seems like the old 5 step rule for deciding between a shoulder and a briefcase is out of the window.

Yes, but granted few if any of our local courses have long run-ups. Also I suck.

I've shouldered worse bikes. It isn't terrific, but I don't really care, so it's okay by me.
