So I finally decided on getting a used Kona Jake or Jake the Snake if I can find one for a good price but I can't find one anywhere. I have asked all the lbs and no one even carries Kona. The only one on Kona's website has not responded to any emails or phone calls. One place has CrossCheck frames and can build me one but they are charging an arm and a leg for just the frame (all their bikes are over priced). I was looking on craigslist and can't find one. I think the two bikes I want to get are not even an option I can find them in other states but they will not ship them. What do I do?

I think any lbs can order a crosscheck maybe you can find another to build up cheaper there is also the double cross similar to the cross check.

Recently bought an 07 Kona Jake the Snake off ebay. Same boat as you. Commuter who would like to try cyclocross at some point. I've done minimal trail riding and it's worked great. Love the bike.

Having been on a bike that was too big, I highly recommend you get a good fit. The couple cross bikes I've ridden (cross check included) had LONG top tubes and made feel too streached out. I usually ride either a 53 or 54cm and I'd need a 52cm cross check at the biggest...

how big are you? there's a sweet Major Jake on ebay right now, but it's a 60 and they run big...

Is Southwest Bikes the shop that you called? They show Kona on their website.

They are the ones who have not responded and i live far south from them so I have not went up there yet. I have one more shop that is close by but they do not show Kona.
