Here's my fairly new JTS. It's mainly seen use on the MUP and road so far.

It's converted from a Trek 700 hybrid! It was fun to build! :)

Not quite loaded yet, but I thought some people might be interested in my barbag set up. I leave for the TransAmerica on this thing in 3 weeks.

Put Nokon high performance gear cable on front so I could get the cables out of the way and make room for the bag.

How is the shifting on that? I've never been a physical witness to a set up like that so I'd love to hear how snappy the shifting is.

renhack 04-25-07 09:05 PM

Thats pretty sweet. I use my cross to commute back and forth to work every day. I'm ready to ditch the backpack allready and its only 60-65 degrees outside. What pack is that? The mount looks great.

The shifting is a little tight right now, but definitely smooth, I've barely riden it since I put the new cables on so I'll update again after a few weeks of riding.

The pack I am using is the Arkel Big Handlebar Bag. It's a little pricey, but the build quality is great, and the service from Arkel is really outstanding. Their website also has tons of good info about the thing before you buy it, liike blue prints with all dimensions including the mount set up and pictures of all the pockets open and shut and so on.

I should prolly send them some pictures of my rig.

pitboss 05-01-07 06:47 AM

have been

I ditched out on road miles and a track clinic just to ride this bike. I regret nothing

somnambulant 05-01-07 07:12 AM

damn, 165, you're making me rethink getting the planet-x! Very hot! Do you have any pics showing how much clearance there is around the stays? Also: what size tires are those?

heliumb 05-01-07 07:24 AM

This weekend, I finally had a chance to get this thing muddy out on the trails. Big fun.
City exploration just got at least twice as interesting now that I can leave the pavement.

To 165.

I've found that on my mtn bike running a full length of housing between the rear stop on the top tube to the rear derailleur really slows down the cable housing destruction when riding in nasties. My cross bike unfortunately has downtube cable routing which is pretty much the only thing I don't like about it.

odd you should bring up this topic. originally, I had a brake noodle and 5mm housing, but the cable was binding and not shifting into higher gears. so we ditched the noodle, but the same crap happened. 4mm housing it is. shifts damn near perfectly now - I am reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaallllly happy with this bike.

Sure, no big hurry.

also: I take it you picked up the fork separately, yes?

yup - I was going to use one I had, but there was a tiny crack. Not a good thing. New fork - Ritchey Comp.

My first carbon fork. Love it

somnambulant 05-01-07 02:34 PM

Yeah, it looks like a really nice fork. Another jealousy factor.. :P If I go with a custom build from my friend that's likely the fork I'll use as well. I've got a thing for Ritchey parts. :)

The tires are Ritchey Speedmax Cross 700x30. The distance from the tire to the bottom of the seat stay bridge is just shy of one inch.

somnambulant 05-03-07 07:06 AM

Awesome, thanks dude! Did you pick that up locally? Or direct from Planet-X?
