Here's mine. Just got it earlier this month, so only about 100 miles on it so far. Absolutely love it. Only changes so far are Avid Shorty Ultimate brakes and Lizard Skins bar tape. Wasnt a big fan of the white saddle, so put one of my old ones on.

Next up is rims. Any suggestions? I'm a heavy rider (230+ lbs) and not to sure how the stock Rovals will hold up once I start hitting the trails.

I am assuming that question is regarding the JTS. I suppose the easiest answer is because that is what feels good and seems to give me the most power. My saddles are run pretty high on all of my bikes. These are both 54s and I often wish I had more top tube length so maybe I could benefit from going to a 56 but I am only 5'9. Maybe the other way of asking the question would be "why is the bar so low". In that case, I was on a 100 mile road ride with some pretty aggressive riders and needed all the edge I could get. I still got dropped.

I think the Rovals are pretty strong wheels. The only problems I've seen people have is sweat deterioration, but that can happen with any bike. I'm impressed with the design scheme. Very nice indeed!

Thanks. Took me a long time to pull the trigger. Been very happy with it so far.

my daily commute is a mix of road/gravel/dirt/grass/broken concrete sidewalk, so i ended up with a CX. no, i don't race, yet, but i'm hoping to get down to the race at Ommegang Brewery as it's pretty close to me.

every day it's not raining "hard", i'm on this Nashbar steel CX headed to work. only mod thus far has been SPD pedals. considering a frame swap, as i've seen the Jake on sale, but it's a great workhorse as is...

Here's what I replaced it with; 2011 Redline Conquest Pro... most of the components were direct transfer. Needed new headset and bottom bracket. SRAM Red cranks and Soulcraft tensioner are the big differences aside from the frameset.
I did some masking/paint work to turn the stock red accents into pink to match my team colours.

Its not a bike, just a frameset for now, but it'll be my next restoration project.

You might want to consider running that chain tensioner up instead of down, especially with such a small chainring

My 2009 Kona Jake. Chris King headset, Hope stem, SRAM Rival crankset, Thompson seatpost, Specialized Avatar saddle. I'd like to upgrade the fork to a carbon fiber unit next, the stock fork is so heavy!

This has to be the sweetest package of upgrades I have ever seen on a Jake. Very nice.

It doesn't go the other way. It is spring loaded. I'm probably going to run a 16t in the future anyway. 34-14 is still a bit too steep.

mikeetow 06-21-12 07:59 PM

finished up my Ritchey build. last few pieces were finding a good condition set of Logic cantilevers, and getting a steel fork made.

It'll be a couple weeks before I ride it. I'm having the shop tailor it to me a bit. It comes with BB5 calipers, so I'm changing those to BB7's. The crankset is a 46-38 standard (strange combo), so I'm changing that to a 46-34 FSA Gossamer Compact (I know most go 46-36, but I like the tractor gearing of the 34 small ring).

Expect a full review in a month or two.
