Earlier this week I began using the new Pedal Force CX2. It's a great road bike alternative, 98% of the speed but twice the utility. The larger 700x32 tires on the CX2 allow me to enjoy the smoother trails and gravel that are common in the Midwest. I also can just ride across the pot-holed and patched suburban streets without the usual bob-and-weave that is necessary when on a smaller tire.
The added inertia of the wheelset and larger tires does slow acceleration by a small amount, the bike is a little slower to wind up. However the actual overall difference in speed on my usual route is about 2% or about 0.35 mph in contrast with my road bike with aero-bars.
However, the ride quality is exceptional. the bike feels solid and is very responsive, but the tires provide the right amount of suppleness that is very relaxing. If I need to maximize my speed by 2%, I still have a road bike.
The bike will also take fenders and a rear rack. I expect the bike to become my #1 ride.

I like having fenders on 1 of my CX almost full time.
I wasn't aware it made was considered "De-CX'd"...
Don't enjoy having dirt/mud in my teeth too much, or my glasses getting thrash by dirt/mud.

I see you have two chainrings on the front. Do you use a Surly Dingle on the hub? If so, how well does that work?

The gear setup is a little odd
The rear hub is a white industries eno. The fixed side has a chain line that lines up with the inside of a road double and the freewheel side lines up with the outside chainring on a road double. My first reaction was one of disappointment because I didn't want to change the single ring out when I flipped the back wheel. After some pondering, it turned out perfect. The bike has two setups:
42x16 fixed.
this uses the inner chainring and is the perfect ratio for road riding.
39x18 freewheel.
this uses the smaller outside chainring and works well for mild offroad riding and less than ideal conditions.
In both cases the chain line is nearly perfect, and if you do the math, the chain length is the same for both ratios. Because the bike has semi horizontal dropouts there is also no brake adjustment required for either setup. You just take the wheel out, flip it around and bolt it down.
A dingle cog should give roughly the same results but would be freewheel/freewheel and you could have the front chainrings installed properly with the smaller on the inside.
