That's a great looking bike. Like it a lot.
One bone I have to pick, but not with you - the 44mm head tubes on a steel frame, and the chunky carbon fork. Just always thought it looked out of proportion with the smaller steel tubes. Fitting with a carbon or alu frame with bigger tubes, or ti, but not with steel. All because of the fork. That's why Ritchey designed a whole new fork, to go with the Swiss Cross Disc.

Terry66: What panniers are you running on the Vaya in this pic? Size? I've been looking at some Axiom bags for an upcoming multi-day backpacking trip. Thanks!

Thanks! I chose Boyd Altamonts because I have his 44mm carbon clinchers on my road bike and I love them. He offers a great product at great value, and his customer service is second to none. He stands behind his products 100% and makes himself available to customers and potential customers. His crash replacement program is also very reasonable.
I wanted bombproof wheels that don't weigh a ton where I wouldn't be running up against a weight limit of 170-175lbs, that have a deeper aero profile (Altamonts are 30mm deep) for long road rides, no machined brake track, and could take the higher pressure of narrower road tires (25-28mm), which a lot of CX wheelsets can't take. Boyds ticked all the boxes. I could have spend about $500 more to get Reynolds Assault disc clinchers, or $200 more for a set of Reynolds Stratus Pro discs for a weight savings of a little over 100g in both cases.
Thanks. I agree that the aesthetic isn't ideal, but I wanted a carbon disc fork and didn't want to wait for the Ritchey fork. Fortunately, I think it looks ok on the Gunnar. Plus black has a slimming effect . Finding the ENVE in stock was also a pain. A Whisky No. 7 was originally in my build spec but they were backordered til the end of December. The ENVE popped up available on QPB so I had my dealer grab it.

I'm not quite sold on the custom concept yet...I'm thinking that with all the various stems/bars/posts and frames out there that I oughta be able to be fit to most everything. My body morphology ain't that far out...lmao.
For pure indulgence sake, if I go custom, it will be a Passoni or Firefly. I love the Revelate stuff, I have the Viscacha bag and the Gas Tank as well.
I need to put together a dedicated set of off road wheels...I really like the DT Swiss 1250 Spline, but I missed out on a big sale where I could of had those at nearly half price. Right now I'm considering some builds based on Industry9 hubs.
Do you have the latest Fargo? If so, what's your impressions? I'm considering that as a tour bike.

Hook me up with some spots. My parents live in Westchester and I don't really know of a lot of places. I usually do the Aquaduct trail in Tarrytown.
I want to try cunningham park in Queens, looks like a good place to use the cross bike.
The Kona looks great, got any info on that frame bag?

I suggest signing up on Map Bike Rides with Elevation Profiles, Analyze Cycling Performance, Train Better. Ride With GPS and explore. I do a tremendous amount of route planning via that site and googlemaps. Zoom in and you can see what types of roads & shoulders, etc...Ask if you want any specifics, I tend to range pretty far around the area.
Some fun spots in Westchester, South of the Croton Reservoir:

Hey, in the bottom map, all the roads in the hills Northwest of the Sawmill are a hoot. Lake Road, Meeting Place, Haines Rd, Croton Lake Road, all mostly unpaved hardpack. Etc... Zoom in on googlemaps or RideWithGPS and you can see this... Fun, steep hills. Cutting back across from East to West on Millwood is work, a stairstep of hills with not much room to recover in between...I like to shoot South all the way down Hardscrabble Rd into Pleasantville on my way back to the Bronx...
On the top map the whole Teatown Hill/reservation area is worth exploring...Shooting up Cedar Lane from Ossining, onto Spring Valley Road, swinging around Teatown Lake on Blinn Road into Applebee Farm Rd , and then descending into the Croton Dam Gorge via Quaker Ridge Rd to Quaker Bridge is a hoot, especially the steep switchback descending to the Quaker Bridge crossing over the Croton River...
Here's a ride I did back in December, RideWithGPS sorely underestimates the elevation gain, this was a 7000ft ride: Croton Fondo
Roadies whine when I take them up through here because the tarmac manicure isn't exactly plush, but I ride 28mm and shame the poseur *****es. lmao
I remember this one time, cat was like, "There's holes in the road..." I said, "You have handlebars, use them..."
Sorry for the thread drift...

Here's my 2014 Fuji Absolute 1.3 Disc
I use this bike for just about all kinds of riding. I'm going to be putting on 700 x 35 Clement USH tires on it and it will be able to handle much morexpensive after the swap.
