Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

More of an all-road than “gravel”

But Leo handled some gravel just fine

Been back and forth on calling this a hybrid or a gravel bike. It has been my winter project to replace my hybrid bike that I will be selling this spring. First ride this past Saturday and am really liking this. First time I have owned a bike without a front suspension since early 90's. I'm liking it!

Thanks I'm starting to get back on the saddle - pun intended. Fork is a Trifox suspension corrected fork w. QR dropouts. Was very limited on my fork options but I now have a rigid and a suspension fork that I can go between (was using an older Manitou fork prior)

Glad you’re feeling better. That’s a good looking fork and it gives you plenty of clearance when things get nasty. I really like the geometry on that Kona and how you have it set up. Looks like it would be blast to ride about anywhere you’d want to take it.

Cheers,

Scott

Klein Rascal that I used for cross country racing back in the 1990s, now with a different handlebar and a mix of components for a more relaxed pace, and maybe some "bikepacking." Old Suntour thumb shifters with friction shifting, 8-speed Shimano cassette with an old Sachs derailleur. V-brake out front with a cantilever in the back (cable routing didn't allow a V-brake in the back). I took this picture last week while riding along the Mississippi River. Still a great bike!

That is a crazy cool bike! I assume those horizontal links on the fork provide some suppleness to the ride besides being attention-getters.

yep, a little like "leaf springs" but not really measurable travel, supposed to absorb the shock of washboards ..... plus it looks cool :-)

I did a few upgrades. I picked a pair of used 29er carbon wheels and used an adapter to convert the front wheel from a 15mm to 12mm thru axle. In the process I opted to put on some fresh rubber! I also install an integrated carbon drop bar.
