I did a few upgrades. I picked a pair of used 29er carbon wheels and used an adapter to convert the front wheel from a 15mm to 12mm thru axle. In the process I opted to put on some fresh rubber! I also install an integrated carbon drop bar.

yep, a little like "leaf springs" but not really measurable travel, supposed to absorb the shock of washboards ..... plus it looks cool :-)

Looks cool ... and dangerous. Is there any literature on how well they tested it? I know nothing about this stuff, but it makes me nervous.

Those tires are awesome!

After waiting for a year I finally purchased a new bike. This will be both my main gravel bike and main road bike (have a set of separate wheels that will sport 30-32mm file-treads for road duty).
It maybe my quiver killer as I intend to replace two bikes with this one. Did a shakeout ride yesterday in the sun and so far the 1X gearing does not disappoint. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f52f801db8.jpg (yes the paint scheme is ridiculous; I love it) |

You have seen the light!! Mixing tread patterns to add front end grip is magic, at a very minimal cost in Crr (if you chose wisely).

Yes, I had seen some of your posts and was inspired! The H in front was way too squirrely... Mountain bikers have been doing it forever, so it makes sense on gravel bikes as well.
Last week, I traded some messages with pro gravel guy, Joe Goettl, who is using Pirelli H tires. I suggested that he might consider running an M up front for added traction in loose conditions. He liked the idea, and said that he would give that a try sometime, but stuck with his H/H setup for BWR AZ last weekend. His race included multiple crashes due to a lack of traction on the dry, sandy, twisty AZ course. After, I asked him if he thought an M on the front would have made a difference. His response..."I totally should have run that tire!" |

Got myself a new bike at the end of January for some extra motivation to ride more. In the last month and half I've put more miles on this bike than I rode all of last year!

More of an all-road than “gravel” https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0f85e7990.jpeg But Leo handled some gravel just fine |

Is that a Brooks Cambium I see? Which model? I was using a C15 for a few years and acquired a C17 last weekend. Jury is still out on the extra width, but I think it'll work.

New to the gravel gang. Went with this Surly Midnight Special because I wanted something steel with mounts to also haul a baby around/commute with.

Happened to come across this site. Titanium fork and as expected, pricey.

My All City Space Horse. I bought it as a bare frame, installed a GRX 820 12 speed drive line, Mavic Allroad wheels, Thompson Masterpiece post, Deda stem and bar, Brooks “Select” B17 saddle, XTR 9120 pedals, etc. I’ve put about 1000 miles on it so far, and love it.

Gonna miss All City as a brand- Ive never owned one, came close many times thru the years, and always looked forward to their annual model updates to see what paint designs and colors they chose. As a company they definitely pushed gravel cycling and enthusiast alt-cycling forward and in a good direction. |
