I'm in the same boat. The CX bikes that we carry (I work in a shop), which like CK, one of the brands is Raleigh are all sold out. I actually had one of the RX1.0's set on an order the day they arrived in the US but there was a mis communication between Raleigh and my shop and the order was closed out..bike went back into system...sold.

Thanks. It's a Poprad I had powdercoated a deep, metallic blue.

The brakes are Tektro Mini V's. They stop on a dime, but the feel isn't great and setup is a nightmare. They also have limited clearance (the pads are very close to the rims) but since it's totally dry here in Florida in the winter, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm just going to try them out and see how it goes.

Some pictures after the mess of the first race. We had to spend 1.5 minutes spiraling around the inside of a sloppy, wet baseball diamond with it's clay/sand/muddy mud. $ laps took it's toll and added 25 pounds exactly to my bike's weight.

You can hardly tell (except for the patch of red on the bottom right of the rear tire) but those tires had red sidewalls.


My new bashguard... oh wait! that's mud! And that used to be a Sram Red crank


My rear wheel came loose in a jump, and this is how it ended up. Now my brakes are out of whack, too.

I did the same race as CrisimKarter21. I wonder how the bike can continue to shift under those conditions. The pulley wheels are a mass of mud and leaves. On the last lap, in the infield peanut butter maze, a rider in front of me just stopped. I guess his brakes must have clogged. That must really suck being about 100yds from the finish line and get passed by a couple guys. It was a fun race in the most part except the one time in 5 laps where I didn't make the bunny hop over the telephone pole, got dumped in a gravel parking lot, ouch!

Lucky. The mud skipped my downtube, and wedged itself right in between my crank and downtube.

Did you have any troubles clipping in with mud-caked cleats with the crank brothers pedals?

Ok, after messing with it for a few days, I have given up on the mini-V brakes. They work, but the setup is a nightmare. Back to canti's I go.

The main problem is that the shifters (9 speed 105) will not pull enough cable. I believe there is another Tektro V brake that doesn't require as much cable pull, but this isn't it.

Basically if you set it up for proper brake feel and stopping power, the pads were VERY close to the rim and you could not undo the noodle, thereby not allowing you to remove the wheel. Not very convenient.

you can get pulleys that convert the mechanical advantage of STI levers to cable pull for v brakes

On the road bike, the 'cross bike uses a GXP BB whereas the SRM is FSA so it's not exactly easy to move it back and forth.

From what I have heard you can run 85mm arms with regular levers, which have too high of an MA for for v brakes, but the new tektros upped it to 95mm and the one person I know that runs them uses adapters.
