Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Need some help...

I have a 07 Kona Jake, that I used doing practice rides with some local cat 1/2 riders in my hometown. I really am starting to get into the sport, so since I am in Iraq I have been doing tons of cardio and calisthenics in order to train for the season when I get home. My goal is to get to cat 3 my first season, I know its a pretty big goal, but I think I can do it. I'm not saying this counts but I do a life fitness bike at 22-23mph for a hour, then I will run 3-5 miles. Anyways, my real question is should I buy a new cx bike with a $2200 Budget, or upgrade my jake, and buy a road bike with the upgrads?

What would be a good race bike? I have been looking at the Kona Major Jake, does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello I am not familiar witha Kona Jake but it is a 700C cross bike? you are racing cross or road when you get home? while I have not tried to race race in some years this is what I would do. I would look around and see what new cross bike I like then do my first couple traing races and rides on the Jake and see how it goes.

my real reason ro answering this question was to take the oppurtunity to thank you and all your buddies for you service to your country and doing you best to assist the Iraqi people. good luck to you and your buddies and hurry home

One morning you wake up, the girl is gone, the bikes are gone, all that's left behind is a pair of old tires and a tube of tubular glue, all squeezed out"
