Advice on post race bike cleaning and lube
 

Here in the southeast, we are having a very wet 'cross season. All the more fun for sure... until it's time to clean the bike. I'm wondering if I am doing a thorough enough job at drying and re-lubing everything after since I using the water hose generously everywhere except the hubs.

So, there are the parts where water can hide and where you have to take the parts off to re-lubricate like the brake lever internals, stem, seatpost and deraileurs. What should I do for these components so they stay dry, lubed and don't start oxidizing? Or maybe I shouldn't worry about it since most of it is aluminum.

How much detail do you guys go to in drying and lubricating these parts. Is towel drying off the exposed parts sufficient?

the way i see it is, the fresh water has to be better than the mud.

Dkey - a good tip on stuff like this to do a net search on what mountain bikers do - because as I suspect you found out using "cyclocross" often doesn't throw much up. So e.g.
