why does this guy like posting his bike so much?
His new picture is just the same picture but taken indoors.
He can't even figure out how to embed the picture..cmon its like this:
See! I can repost my pictures too but I actually force people to look at them

Wow. Another forum hero. I am glad that my posts bother you as well. I am starting to get quite a following of jackasses. The new picture actually isn't the same at all. Unlike the one you have been posting on everyone's threads. Nice cross bike I love the tire choice. Links don't take up any space on the forum. But nice point I guess. You are just that much cooler than me. I am glad you pointed that out.

i thought this kind of intolerance/impatience was a roadie or mtbike thing (of course, i am spliced mtb/roadie DNA gone mutantcross)? since i don't visit too many other subforums, i don't mind seeing what i haven't seen here. so it doesn't seem like too much. i wish i had a bike i was so excited about, i posted it several places!
seriously tho, always look at the join date of various hecklers/snipers/grumpies/trolls/etc...heck i am still a relative noob here, but...

what size is that frame?
Ok here is an updated picture of the bike for the forum police. Post bike pics not bull$%^&. I posted more than you would have liked. Deal with it. What is the point you are trying to make. The bike isn't really that cool. I never said it was. I found it in a field covered in rust. It is a no name lugged steel bicycle. I am just trying to see who else has done the same thing. I like vintage. I like to see things others have done. That is why I started this new post. If you are irritated don't reply on this thread. There are many others you can waste your time on. If you like what is on here follow it and enjoy the pictures I hope people post.
Here are the updates:
Bontrager saddle
Crank brother pedals
Weinmann levers
Dia Comp rear brake
39t ring previous pic showed a 42
SR Stem and Wider bars

Just curious, if I take one of my old road bikes with center pull brakes and throw on some wide knobby tires does that make it a vintage cross?

"Post your vintage bikes that you race cyclocross with whether or not they are actual cyclocross bikes"
That title would end the controversies.

What are you trying to find ways you're oppressed or something?

How many vintage cyclo cross specific bikes were there? I was always under the impression vintage cross bikes were just cobbled together.

Cyclocross specific bikes came after the sport was invented but mass-produced cyclocross bikes have been around since the 70s at least. I'm sure cyclocross specific bikes were being made earlier than that.
I don't know what there is to get offended about, you can race anything you want in a cyclocross race but that doesn't make that bike specifically a cyclocross bike. It's silly to pretend there's no such specific thing as cyclocross bike, of course there is. What's the big deal? You convert a vintage road bike into a cyclocross bike what you have is a cyclocross conversion, not a vintage cyclocross bike. A vintage cyclocross bike would be an Alan from the 70s or something like that because that was a bike built specifically for cyclocross.
I mean, if you put knobby tires on your raleigh 3-speed from the 60s and ride it in the mountains is that your vintage mountain bike? No, it's a conversion. Vintage mountain bikes don't start until mountain bikes built specifically as mountain bikes start.

I just want people to post some pics. Never thought my thread was going to turn into this. I guess I brought it on myself unintentionally.

it's not a problem at all and good to see some constructive (some...) comments along the way....like the one about vintage cross bike vs. vintage CONVERSION...which i think was actually a nice articulation of the original post idea. so it's all good.
still, i rarely expect to see grumpy responses here like i have on the road and mtb areas...they ARE the Venn diagram through which i pedal, but i am starting to prefer the cx set up no matter how it is done. i think my return to full rigid mtbiking got me partly into appreciating the cx vibe
i just bought a new aluminum rim with quick release to replace my quite vintage steel one....a new seat alloy seatpost on order...my vintage 'conversion' ought to look sharp soon..i'll post pics when i can

hey it really is nothing...there aren't enough 'emoticons' to get across any tongue in cheekiness here even on my part...
but anyways, you are right...getting annoyed at others' annoyance can be annoying!
now on my end, heck, i am too lazy to post photos of my few bikes...i'll definitely amp it up soon (since i am altering the look of the bike i posted once here)...but of course, it will hardly be multiple times
anyways, onwards and cheers

jeez, sorry i brought anything up. all i meant to do was ask a little courtesy to those of us that do visit multiple subforums. i threw in a little snark there at the end because, what the hell, it's the ****ing internet. every other forum i've ever been to frowns on cross-posting (especially to the excess in this particular case), so i don't think i was being unreasonable.
post the same bike picture over and over. i don't really care. but try to care less when others get annoyed.
ahem.

So what do you call bikes raced on mountains before factory produced MTBs existed? They were racing Schwinns on MT Tam in the seventies years before Specialized put the Stumpjumper on the market. Cyclocross existed in the Forties yet factory bikes weren't seen until the Seventies. Early MTBs and Cross bikes share a lot in common in their early days.
Listen, if you're all oppressed because when you put knobbies on your old bike someone will occasionally say something like 'well that's not a vintage cyclocross bike, that's a vintage bike you converted to use for cyclocross', then I'm sorry for you. Hell, I'm sorry for everyone around you.
