Ti CX bike with ultegra/dura ace -- why so low?

Why aren't folks jumping all over this bike?

Is everybody waiting to snipe at the end?

It seems to me that even at the "buy it now" price, this would be a steal.

...but maybe I am missing something. I've been scavenging for parts, and its been hard to take my eyes off this for the last week or so.

It may be the angle but the rim looks shot.

I saw this bike as well. It looks like it has been well used. Perhaps not abused, but certainly ridden.

It may very well be a deal, just hard to tell from the listing.

That seller had a ProTI frame for sale a few weeks ago. I actually lost an early auction for that frameset. For some reason it reappeared a few days later. It went thru at least two other no sale auctions and ultimately appeared to sell for $75 less than my losing original bid (I got sniped with 7 seconds remaining). I later decided that was a good thing for me.

I mention that because when I saw this bike I wondered if they had a couple of these frames and decided based on the first attempt to just slap together a bunch of used parts in hopes of having better luck getting a sale as a full bike.

Good luck if you buy it and let us know how it worked out.

I think I am probably going to hold off (lets see how my resolve holds up in 8 hrs).

Especially after your experience Stickney -- sounds shady.

Honestly, its not really what I want... I'm hooked on SRAM, and 1000 bucks for a very used Ti frame, and a spent carbon fork probably isnt worth it.

The listing is just weird.... looks like a bike that should have been well loved -- but no history at all.

I think I'll be racing on my steamroller this season -- all I need to do is find some tires that fit my calipers.

Well, it may be a perfectly ok bike. As for my experience, I think the seller miscalculated the value and ended up finding out that there just wasn't much interest in a no-name TI frame (at least I couldn't find much info on Pro TI).

I own a 2005 TI bike and it has been well ridden. But if I were to sell it, the thing would shine up really nice and not have many faults. That bike appears not to shine up very well, which is a bit of a red flag as a TI owner. It may mean nothing, but it may mean the bike has been ridden a lot. Again, that may be fine, but it would probably lower the value to me personally.

I saw the parts list too and thought, eh, that might not be a terrible price.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Exactly -- the ProTi brand throws me off. I love my Ti road bike, would love to keep the sable pure , but not for a bike I cant learn anything about.

Just as a general thing I've noticed (and which I don't really understand)...titanium does NOT holds its value. You'd think it would, since it always looks new with minimal cleaning, but the used market for ti is soft.

I paid $650 for my Merlin with almost all Dura Ace and 600/ultegra cranks/hubs.
