A Novara cross bike...?
I work for REI so I heard about this a while ago though they finally put up info on the web:
https://www.rei.com/product/47841728....&stat=nrivet05
Carbon fork and stays, aluminum main triangle, 105 and Ritchey components, on Ritchey wheels. Not sure I'm thrilled about the carbon rear end, but since I can pick one up for 800 it might happen...

Heh. It's funny how you would pay retail 1300 for something like that.. I am getting a bike with XT, X-9, and Ultegra components. With better wheels, better handlebars, carbon fork, probably a better seat. For a hundred bucks more than retail on that thing. I priced out my bike; I would be paying 2200 retail. Ride Soul, man. You won't regret. Awesome value, awesome machine.

Pinky, I wouldnt worry about the carbon rear end (seat stay). Your back will thank you. I've been on all aluminum bikes for the last few years & you never notice the beating you take until you ride something like this. My race bikes this year are very similar to this frame & with carbon fork they are super smooth, especially on bumpy grassy courses. Of course a nice set of tubbies w/ low pressure helps too . Your price ($800ish) is a very good deal for a complete, race ready crosser. Go for it!
