Hello All,

I am a putting to gether the parts for my first cross bike build. I am primarily a road guy but moved from Florida to Brazil. The terain here is quite diffrent (Actual HILLs!). My main ride is along a nice highway here with a good group. When I train locally its a mix of fire road/pavement(not nice pavment) and some rocky trail stuff(not too much). I want to get cross bike together to be able to train on longer climbs locally that are too rough for my road bike. I am about 5'10 230 lb's(104 kg) My road bike is a BMC SLT01 53(like a 54/55 in most other brands)

Do you think this is a decent build for my intended use? Any sugestions or other options?

If the road is rough the bearings on the cycle-ops power tap will go bad fast from the dust. I have heard many people complain about that the bearings go bad quick. I have one myself the bearings are not sealed. Go for a chris king rear hub as well. Power data is only so important

Thanks for the information. It is pretty dusty but I am still going to use the Powertap. I am a data junkie. I will probably get some spare gearings to have on hand. I did some searching and confirmed that the bearnings in the powertap can be suspect. The new version seems to be better with the 15 mm axle. But I will have spares incase.
