Sram Rival or Sram S500 Crankset?

Have been looking at both of these for my Tricross buildup and am a little confused.
Both are produced by the same company yet the S500 seems both lighter and uses a superior alloy but is cheaper. Is there something I am missing in the equation?
Anyone have an experience with them?
Thanks.

From what ive heard they are essentially the same. One comes with a build group and the other is a standalone.

Wont be much difference if any. (I am using the Rival one and I can say it is plenty stiff for my liking)

Thanks, I guess my question was, why is the Rival more expensive if it is heavier and uses cheaper 6066 Aluminum instead of the lighter, stiffer 7075 in the S500? Just a branding thing or is there some other difference?
My original intention was to get the Rival...until I saw the S500. But I can't find any online reviews for it.
Anyone here use the 500?

Good question. Don't know the answer though.

But I do know that you can find new or slightly used Rival cranks that are more than half that MSRP price on the Bay. Don't buy it new, it is grossly overpriced.

I don't even know why SRAM has all of those standalone cranks. Too much overlap if you ask me.

I've been using the S300 for three years, it's been a quality crank.

The non-series items from Sram are equal to the series items.
