MTB triple vs road double
Could I use this FSA - Mtb 22/32/44t crankset https://www.amazon.com/FSA-AFTERBURNE.../dp/B005XBO7PA and just remove the 22T ring as a cyclocross compact crank? As apposed to this: https://bike.shimano.com/publish/cont...-.fc_road.html
I would rather have 32/44t (instead of Shimano's 36/46 for cross (and replacing the chainrings are super expensive).
I realize that the FSA is heavier, but are there other considerations using the FSA crank with a 68mm bottom bracket instead of a road crank for cross (on a Canonndale CAAD9 frame).

That FSA wont fit on your Cannondale, no matter what bottom bracket you use. Stick with the Shimano. Chainrings are pretty cheap, and its much better suited for cyclocross. I'd keep the 46/36 rings, for most it's the ideal 'cross setup.

Actually that crank may fit. Is you cannondale BB30 or BSA? Not that you should use that crank, I think it's a poor choice for cross.
