Avid Shorty 4 pad replacement

Hi all,
I have Avid Shorty 4 brakes and the pads are getting pretty worn down (Specialized Tricross). Looks like these are not pad inserts and therefore not pad replaceable. Any suggestions on whether the cartridge with pad is replaceable, or better to replace the entire brake set? From what I can tell, the cartride/pad costs almost the same as the entire brake set.

Thanks.

There are many companies selling replaceable pad brake shoes..

retail for stuff is what it is ,
If you buy a pallet of cases of stuff, as a Manufacturer, or wholesale distributor,
the price per unit is lower..

that being said [stating the obvious]

Kool Stop For cyclocross, has a 3 compound in one pad brake shoe,
after you spring for the pad and holder combination, the savings come in the future ,
when you only replace the friction material insert.

Thanks, very helpful. Looks like these Kool Stop cartridge/pad replacements (model KS-CXT) will fit Avid Shorty 4 brakes on Tricross, and be a significant improvement over Avid pads.

Thanks, good to know. Didn't realize REI sold Avid and Kool Stops. One is nearby and will take a look.

I would replace the whole brake but I hates those things. Could never get rid of the squeal.
