Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

My first cyclocross bike

I FINALLY bought a cyclocross bike, and though i wanted the beautiful, sleek, sculptural Specialized S-Works or a cyclocross bike of some sorts, i settled in a rush to get a nice beginners Scattante X330 cyclocross bike for under $400, but over $350 Im coming from a Trek 300 hybrid bike, so the X330 is different for me. Its a size 57, and im about 5'6, so a little big for me, but room to grow.

The first bike I used for CX was the bike I used in the 80's for most of my road racing. The only modifications were 80's tubular CX tyres on a rear wheel with wider gear range, and modern MTX flat pedals. In Australia we have an Any Bike Class, which has allowed me to try a few bikes while I am working toward a bike more suitable for CX.
