front derailleur stop placement for top pull/bottom pull front derailleur

So I asked a similar question on the frame building section but am curious what your thoughts are..

I'm about to braze on a front derailleur stop on the seat tube (I've routed all my cables up on the top tube). I notice the placement can either be directly centered behind the seat tube or slightly offset on the side of the front derailleur. Does anyone know if the center placement can be used with top pull front derailleurs or does it only work with a pulley and bottom pull?
