Diamondback cross bikes?

I have the chance to pick up the diamondback steilacoom rcx for 700 new. It seems pretty well specced. Should I go for it. It has full 105 Fsa gossamer and an Easton ec70 carbon fork. Is there anything else in that price range that I should be looking at? Thanks

Being PDX, you got every brand in the US for sale somewhere there.. have fun shopping.

Racing in the 'cross crusades' series , OR, just Commuting.. ?

Probably racing. I get an employee discount on the bike so 700 instead of 1000. So I'm guessing I should go for it?

With Taiwan Contract Manufacturing, Brand is just paint , anymore ..
the brand/Logo, is a specification of the contract.
they are all made by a handfull of factories.

Racing, ? Get 2 , so your friends can wash the Mud off one , in the pits.
and have a spare when you break something.

Good, or less, bikes from bike shops is largely attention to detail

when the mechanic puts it together from the shipping carton...

If thats You , (employee discount recipient) then that is dependent on what you do..

The "probably" here is the only flaw I see in your plan.

Since you're getting it with an employee discount, I'd guess the recall issue shouldn't be much of a problem for you.

Considering this myself. Seems like a decent bike for the money.
And a good entry level CX bike. I've read elsewhere that the saddle, seatpost, and wheelset is heavy. But those are easily swapped.

I can't find it for $700 but Amazon has it for $900 and free (Prime) shipping.
