hi,
currently riding a 50cm Redline Conquest 1999 model.
it's a bit big for me and i'm looking for feedback on other frames out there.
my road bike is a 48cm Merlin road, it's a perfect fit.
i would appreciate comments on ride and handling characteristics.
i race in New England on typical cross courses.
thank you

Cross Frames

Hi there, I ride a Sunn cross bike which is on the bottom of the price scale. I love its sloping downtube which gives a bit more room to move about on. I'm 6ft tall and ride a 58cm frame which is just about right. Cannondale do some nice cross frames if you want something light, but the majority of cross riders in the UK ride Alan cross bikes....tad expensive for me...

I'm riding a Surly Cross-check at the moment, in a 56cm. I'm 6'1", so I would normally ride a 58cm road frame, but I found that a lot of CC bikes fit differently and require you go a size smaller than your road bike. I even thought the 55cm Bianchi Axis and Jake the Snake bikes I test rode fit me better than did their 58cm counterparts.

I also think bikes that are a little small handle better offroad--but I'd best had not ought start that argument.

Having ridden the smaller Surly for a couple months now, I'm glad I went that way.

Tell me what you think
Thanks
