Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". What CX to buy?

Hi
I'm looking at getting myself a CX, but have no idea what is a decent one and where I'll be paying more for a name!
Mountain bikes are what I'm more familiar with and have a better idea of what's what.

I'm based in South Africa and there is virtually zero CX market here so I'll have to bring the bike in myself, hence I need to do a lot of research to make sure I'm buying the right bike.

I'd prefer something that I could run geared as well as Single Speed.
I've had a look at Surley and Specialized ( although the latter is rather pricey) but that's about it.
what other brands are available?

Thanks

Giant anmd Merida , in Taiwan make most of them no matter what the name in the paint is .

what Brands are sold there , or You asking about (likely UK) brands shipped down there?

shipping fom retailers in the North will be pricy anyhow ..

Wall, mart probably has a store in RSA , they are cheap . YGWYPF.

google British Bike shops , most are reselling the Brands you ask about .
one : https://www.evanscycles.com/
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/
has it's own line of Thorn Brand frames and will build a bike up..
(more touring than cross racing, but you dont have any races there anyhow).

hope you got a brick of Au. to put into the deal.

Our town's Local Oregon Bike shop has a commercial UPS account, Trek and Redline and Felt .
(salsa and surly on special order) Canadians drop in and buy bikes saving themselves GST.
https://bikesandbeyond.com/

you got a Visa/MasterCharge card ? the shipping is an add-on. .. Air Freight rates.
