Raleigh RX 1.0 upgrade and diet

Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Raleigh RX 1.0 upgrade and diet

Just updated my stock RX 1.0 from 9 speed Sora to 10 Speed SRAM Rival brifters and rear derailleur, Force cassette, Ultegra 10sp chain (had a new one laying around) and tubular wheels/tires. Overall, the bike lost exactly 2lbs and I am loving the feel of the tubulars. Probably would have been cheaper to buy a higher end model but I have had this one for a few years and was itching to fiddle with it.

Got in finished just in time for a cold snap

Mine is a 2012: Raleigh Bicycles RX - 2012 Cyclocross

Replacing the Weinmann rims was most of the weight. I used those boat anchors to do a 700c conversion on my old GT Timberline.

Oh, and the new shifter style really cleaned up the cockpit cables. No more cables swinging out by my thumbs.

i like the paint on that one. i have the 2011 rx1, which goes by "the general." mine came stock with 105, and the clean cockpit is definitely a nice thing, even if it's just an aesthetic appreciation.

those wheels are definitely a weak point of the bike. i replaced mine this season with a sturdier set, all though not necessarily any lighter. that being said, my goal for next season is to get it under 20#
