Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

1st CX race this Saturday

55+ category.

Around 3K on the road this year, multiple sessions of dismount/mount, run ups, sprint starts, etc. over the last several weeks.

Lots of rain, so should be sloppy conditions.

Wish me luck!

I had a moment of hope when the starter said I was the only one in my age category- but then the other (& faster) guys showed up.

All in all, it went pretty well. Passed one guy to avoid DFL, technically did OK, mainly short on raw power and wind. It was quite a hilly course, lots of grass, & a bunch of muddy stream crossings- one almost axle deep.

For next time:
- Knobbier tires
- Running, wind sprints, stair climbs
- Shim cleats to clip in a bit easier
- Hill repeats in bigger gears
