Love them or hate them, flared handlebars are here to stay. Compared to the handlebars offered by some competitors, the drop bar flare of Easton’s EA70 AX bar isn’t that radical. The 16 degrees of flare are touted by Easton as having better control on gnarly terrain and long descents, but maintaining ease of use when accessing access shifter and brake levers from either the hood or drop positions.

Just installed these on my gravel bike and I can say the control I get in the chunky gravel and loose sand is great. It is also much more comfortable to ride for an extended period of time in the drops.
The carbon bars also seem to help dampen the road vibrations.

If it were me, I wouldn't move from aluminum to carbon. The only reason I went with carbon because i was doing a total upgrade (wider bars and the flare).
