So are the various hotbeds of CX racing in the US responding to the warm winter by extending the race season or packing in more events?

Here in Mid-Michigan we've had perfect weather for CX for the past month now -- but after the usual season finale. So everyone could still be racing. For beer. For fun.

Take advantage of the warm winter.

What else is there to do?

Usually we're all XC skiing by now. Not. Really, we're usually mostly on the couch. Or on the trainer in the basement or in the gym. Getting depressed.

So have most folks just switched to depression and wind-trainers for no good reason with all this prime CX out there?

Its entirely a regional Phenomenon .. Its Cold and Wet here and Snow at sufficiently High Altitude.

Roadside Snow & Black Ice on the Road over the OR Coast Range at the High point on US 26 (as on 12/22)

[But the racers are City Folks in PDX . at low altitude ]

Halloween weekend the PDX races Used to use The Clatsop Co Fairgrounds .

They dropped that in favor of Bend OR, wealthier area ..( Sponsorship Money may be Better) Higher altitude of the Cascade range .

Down here in Florida we're waiting for it to get cool enough so we can ride without sweating our ..... off.

We've got the winter wind, but not the cooler weather.
