NATIONALS are done...good job JOHNSON, COMPTON, ALL that participated

amazing race....grateful for the CD and CXMAG coverage (video and text)...i really thought Trebon would just wait it out and make the move.....

oh and is Compton really that good? she is....she should've raced the men's elite...;)

anyways, thoughts on the day, the week? who saw it in person?

post some photos/video if you have it!:thumb:

I watched both races on cyclingdirt. I was rooting for Page but he was a bit naive thinking he could compete after traveling so close to the race. Dan Timmerman looked really strong.

UBUvelo 12-13-09 08:16 PM

yeah, was nice to have the coverage and good to have the live feed from cxmagazine as well when the batteries died! i hope they practice more over the year and it's better next time.

what happened to Trebon? how did he NOT win being at one time 4 seconds behind...?

Lithuania 12-13-09 09:26 PM

i was stoked on timmerman but was pulling for page. maybe next year i can finally be there in person.

UBUvelo 12-13-09 09:42 PM

will it always be in Bend? not anywhere around here?

Lithuania 12-13-09 11:20 PM

it will be in bend again next year and most people are guessing it will return to the east coast for the following two years.

emj2390 12-14-09 12:51 AM

I think it will stay in the west its such a west coast dominated sport. atleast 5 of the top 10 were from oregon, then theres colorado and vegas natives... I would put money of CO next.

UBUvelo 12-14-09 04:52 AM

colorado would be better and more in the 'middle' of the country...

1. Trebon is a human being.
2. Tim Johnson is no slouch, and the technical course, especially under the greasy conditions, favored him over Trebon.

Many people feel that holding a national championship at altitude is unfair to those who don't live there.

nitropowered 12-14-09 07:39 AM

It will probably go to the northeast like 3 and 4 years ago.

I'm gonna see if I can pull together some funds to go to nationals next year

yeah, i didn't think about that....but still, it ought to hit all the conditions of the country...

though i am from the area, i think the deep south/gulf coast/new orleans in deep august would put the hurt on alot of folks...if cross was done there at that time of the year...;)

oh and yes, trebon is human, of course...but i just thought he had it and was going to do it.

I've raced cross in Alabama in pretty hot and humid Indian summer and it's brutal. I much prefer racing in cold, rain, sleet, etc.

I think some of the early-season races in Belgium are hot and humid.

brendon_ak 12-14-09 01:28 PM

it was a pretty amazing weekends, crowds grew exponentially as the events neared the mens elite race.

course was very icy in the morning, and began to harden back up during the late afternoon races.

it was a very technical course, but also favored a strong rider who can control their power. fantastic weekend overall

You all are making giddy with the speculation. It's been a while since it was in Colorado, but there are certainly a number of promoters here (CrossVegas promoters) that could handle it. The altitude thing could be an issue, but I think Bend is considered "at altitude" to some as well. Personally I would love to see it here and watch locals race, but I haven't heard of anyone putting a bid together for 2011. This year I believe Colorado had about 10 winners, 25 podiums and probably a good 50 in the top twenty of their respective races (these are estimates). We had conditions similar to Bend several times over the last several weeks, and I think this helped.

Lithuania 12-15-09 06:26 PM

i believe NC is going to put in a serious bid for 11

I could handle that. NC is a beautiful state.

UBUvelo 12-16-09 06:15 PM

i'm constantly hearing good things about NC...

theextremist04 01-10-10 04:41 PM

KC was always a good choice. But then again, I am kind of biased...
