USGP Bend - Wow
How.in.the.world.do.they.do.that.for.an.hour!
Watched most of the races today. How in the world do those guys do that - they average, on a cross course, speeds that I have been happy with on the road. They keep it up for over a stinkin' hour! Man! The two CX races I have been in danged near kilt me - and in neither did I ride more than about 40 mins.
And, I think I got the kid interested....he wants a cross bike now (he's 19). Just wish the wife had been there - woulda finally hooked her (now that she's got a road bike, is getting interested in off road on her cross bike again!).

Glad you had a good time there. I wish my daughter would even consider it.
It's really impressive watching the big guns. I'm hoping to go to a USGP sometime if nothing else to watch. Wife and I are talking about the possibility of Louisville next year. It's not too far away! I'm hoping.

Woke me as to what a fast race on a fast course would be like. I've only raced two - on a very technical course, not so fast. Am inspired to get in shape for next fall - pretty sure I am going to go to a "camp" this year and get some real instruction. Wife didn't flinch at the idea of me getting a second CX bike (one to be dedicated to commute duty), so hope to do that in the spring. My hope is that the kid will ride with me this summer, and hopefully the wife will take the plunge, too.
And even though I'd get my butt handed to me in my age group, I would really like to race that course in Bend next year...
