What, Noone Saw 2014 to 2016 CX Nationals Awarded?

https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/usa-...0&ns_fee=0

I like that they are moving it around to different regions of the country.
I think all 3 venues will be pretty good and hopefully, well organized.

I wish they would have kept a recent trend of a couple of years in each venue - give them a chance to improve the second one.

I do not like that USAC awarded 2016 when it was not part of the bid package as far as I understand. Thus, any group thinking of 2016 got aced out before they knew they had to bid.

I say all of this having never been to a CX nationals.

More thoughts and discussion?

1. Austin and Asheville are barely the South.
2. Lots of fast MFers in the South. Yes, they whine a bit when it gets cold, but they'll kick your ass because they've been heat-doping all summer.

Y'all should come out of your little cocoon once in a while.

Boulder's a shoe-in. Of course it's going to be a good place.

Of anywhere in Texas, Austin's the place for it. That will probably one hell of a party too.

I'm psyched for Asheville. It's a cool town, and this should be a good match. The Biltmore estate that it's on will likely facilitate a challenging course. There's an enormous possibility of major grade changes and technical sections. The area's too good to let go, so I'm sure that's part of the decision to award it to them without specifically bidding on 2016. I'm sure there's going to be some fallout from this controversial decision, but I'm happy there's going to be a nationals there.

At any of these, there's a thriving CX scene that will only grow with their upcoming events. I agree with he committee to change the venue each year. Although having each venue host twice allows each venue to improve for the second year, it's going to grow the sport as a whole faster to switch it up each year to distinctly different regions.

Boulder, Austin and Asheville are all great towns - lots of potential for some serious fun on and off the course! much more inclined to travel/take a short vacation to race my bike for an hour if i'm going to a place with plenty of other things to do. and I agree that it's a good idea to keep nats moving around the country a bit to keep the sport growing. Austin might be welcome given the potential for extreme weather in Madison/Boulder in 2013/2014.

Yes I have been racing the NC and TN series for over ten years now. You can be sure that Tim will put together a top notch course in Ashville that's for sure. They have a winter series there as well. So we actually get to experience some of the nasty stuff you get in New England and Boulder but in January. FWIW you can keep the cold crappy conditions up there
